Easter on the Macintyre 2017 begins at 6pm tonight with the Goondiwindi Cotton Winter Fashion Parade (27 Herbert Street).

The Goondiwindi Show is coming up in a few weeks. The show holiday is May the 5th this year, and festivities begin on May the 4th with the Aspects Art Show.

Business Breakfast

Last Thursday we hosted our first business breakfast for 2017. We had over 60 people attend, to hear from 4 great speakers from our local business community.

We send our gratitude to our speakers, Richard Hawker, Crystal Henry, Wayne Jones, Cathy Hoole; and of course the staff who looked after us at the Royal Hotel.

It was great to see so many people who stayed to talk and network after breakfast. That’s the real benefit of these events, so thanks to everyone who made it what it was.

We’ve had some great feedback about the style and theme of the event. Many people, loved the concept of keeping things local, so we’re going to continue the ‘local’ theme in our next business breakfast.

We’ve got some exciting news about our next business breakfast coming up in July. We’ll fill you in on the details of that next week.

Business Award Nominations Are Open

Nominate TODAY!

The Goondiwindi Business Awards are now open. We’ve got 6 business categories; including the new community service industry award; the Senior and Junior Employee Awards, and we’re also introduced a Local Innovation award.

Nominations are online this year, and we’ve already got a good 20 or so submitted. Nominations will open from the 1st of April and close on the 30th of April.

Next week we’ll start notifying the nominees and asking them to fill in an online questionnaire. The awards judges will use these questionnaires to tally their results.

This year, we are also asking nominees to submit a short video. The video only needs to be 30-90 seconds long and showcase your work for everyone to see. I say everyone will see it because we are going to show them at the awards dinner.

Easter on the Macintyre

Over the Easter Long Weekend we have plenty to keep you occupied. The Easter on the MacIntyre festival has something for everyday of the long weekend. The event starts with the Tie Up the Black Dog Fashion Show where Goondiwind Cotton will release their winter range.

There are all sorts of events happening around town, the pinnacle of the events being the Saturday night fireworks on the bridge.

There’ll be plenty to do down by the riverside on Saturday night. Many stallholders will be lining the street, much food and drink will be on sale, and plenty of entertainers to keep us all amused.

This Easter long weekend starts tomorrow April 13 through April 17, check out the Council’s website for more details.

Show Day

The Goondiwindi Show is coming up soon, but it’s a slightly different date this year. We’re used to our show holiday being on the same weekend as the Labour Day weekend, this year, it is the weekend after.

So put it in your calendars, that the Show Holiday is Friday the 5th of May.

Not to forget that as usual, the Aspects Art Show is on the night before the show as usual. So this year the Aspects Art Show is the 4th of May.

That’s all we’ve got time for this week, until next week, take care.
